Option Wastewater EN 1610
Menu-guided test procedures for carrying out pressure tests on wastewater pipelines and manholes in accordance with the regulations EN 1610 (Europe), DWA-A 139 (Germany) and DWA-M 149-6 (Germany).
This option includes the following menu items in the device:
Wastewater Procedure Air : Carry out the tests with the test medium air in accordance with the regulations mentioned. EDS2-P 1 bar pressure sensor required.
Wastewater Procedure Water: Carry out the tests with the test medium water in accordance with the regulations mentioned. EDS2 level probe required, smart level control optional.
The menu item "Wastewater Procedure Water" will be finalised later and can be installed via an update of the device without additional booking as soon as it is available.
Testing of wastewater pipelines
In addition to drinking water pipelines and pipelines for energy supply (e.g. gas, district heating, etc.), wastewater pipelines are also part of the important infrastructure. It is therefore not surprising that every pipeline, sewer or manhole within the wastewater network should be tested for leaks before it is put into operation.
Installation and testing of wastewater pipes and sewers are regulated by the European standard EN 1610, which also requires a final leak test of newly built or renewed wastewater pipelines.
In addition to EN 1610, the DWA as a national association in the field of wastewater (similar to the DVGW) has published the DWA-A 139 worksheet, which specifies further requirements for the construction and final leak testing of wastewater pipelines.
The DWA has issued the DWA-M 149 series of worksheets for the "Recording and assessment of the condition of drainage systems located outside buildings". Part 6 (DWA-M 149-6) describes how the condition of drainage systems in operation can be assessed by means of pressure tests.
All regulations stipulate either a leak test with the test medium air or with the test medium water. Since the procedures differ fundamentally in the process and the measurement technology, the procedures are divided into different menu items in the smart memo.
Option Wastewater EN 1610
Menu-guided test sequences for carrying out leak tests on wastewater pipes can be installed for the smart memo via the Wastewater EN 1610 option. Within the menu item, it can be selected whether testing is to be carried out in accordance with the requirements of EN 1610, DWA-A 139 or DWA-M 149-6. The smart memo guides you through the test in an automated process, displays measurement data and progressions , saves and documents all relevant test data.
The following menu items are installed when the option Wastewater EN 1610 is activated:
- Wastewater Procedure Air
Carry out the tests with the test medium air in accordance with the regulations mentioned. EDS2-P 1 bar pressure sensor is required. - Wastewater Procedure Water
Carry out the tests with the test medium water in accordance with the regulations mentioned. EDS2 level probe and EDS2 dosing pump are required.
The menu item " Wastewater Procedure Water" will only be completed in Q2/2023 and can be installed via an update of the unit without additional booking as soon as it is available.
You can find much more information about the wastewater network in Germany here.
EN 1610 Procedure A (air)
With the help of the appropriate connection accessories, the air procedure can be easily carried out with the smart memo. The compressed air hose is connected (possibly via a suitable adapter) to the bypass of a test seal pocket. Above ground, the hose is connected to the test fitting, to which the smart memo pressure sensor is also connected. The test valve is fitted with suitable connections and ball valves for increasing and decreasing the pressure. This allows all phases of the test to be carried out using the test valve and the smart memo.
EN 1610 Procedure W (water)
The inspection in the Wastewater Procedure Water is usually applied to manholes or pipes connected to a manhole, so that the inspection can be carried out using the level measurement method. With the help of the EDS2 level probe, the water level in the manhole filled with water can be measured and checked. If there is a leak in the manhole (or the adjacent pipe), the resulting drop in the level will be reliably detected by the smart memo.
Detailed information on the wastewater procedure and the necessary measuring technology can be found here.
